Abstract: The phase composition and the weight increase due to oxidation of B4C powder and coating were studied. The results showed: The weight of B4C powder and coating both increases with the oxidation time and the heat active energy was 9. 6kJ/mol and 6. 3kJ/mol, respectively. The difference between phase composition of B4Cpowder and coating may account of it. The EP MA result showed that the microstructure and composition of B4C povder and coating were quite different before and after oxi dation.
