Abstract: In this paper the determination of chemical and mineralogical compositions, different al thermal analysis ·of four typical samples of raw materials produced in Fengfeng area were carried out. From the results it could be found that the kaolinite as a mineral substance was mainly contained in the Fengfeng high alumina clay and white clay, but the CaO and K2O contents of white clay result from retention of small amount of calcite and muscovite. The shuizhi white clay used for making glazes of Cizhou wares contains quite a few muscoyite, feldspar and small amount of quartz and carbonaes. The Banhua stone as a decoeration pigment is a kind of limonite which could be transferred to hematite α- Fe2O3 and magnetite in the heating process. so the porcelain surface was covered with black or brown design deeorat ion.
