Abstract: In this articlc, some sherds of Quzhou celdon with color painting were studied.Based on the chemical composition ,physical properties and microstructures of bodies and glazes, some new results were obtained.
.The chemical composition of the bodies of Quzhou celdon arc characterized by high SiO2,high K20 and low Al203. The firing temperature of Quzhou celadons was about 1200℃.
.Two types of chemical composition of glazes were found: (a) high calcium glaze (Ca0:13~ 14.5%);(b)low calcium glaze (Ca0:2.2~4.8%).The K2O+Na20 content (2.9~ 4.3 %) and Al203 / Si02 ratio (0.21 ~ 0.27)of the two types are quite similar.
.In order to increase whiteness, engobe was applied to the wares between greyish black body and glaze.
.Two types of color painting were found: (a) high-fired overglaze color; (b) underglaze color. The color of design was brown, brownish black, brownish red and iron-red etc ..
